It is an OCCS tradition to throw a grand celebration party at each Spring Festival, which in recent years has evolved into the Chinese Festival. For 2010, the celebration will be held on Feb. 20th at Westerville South High School, promoting, showcasing and celebrating the splendor and richness of Chinese culture(please refer to the attachment for detail ).

We would like to see all students and parents taking advantage of this great opportunity, immersing in the festivity and having a good time.

In 2009, the Chinese festival attracted around 8000 people from Ohio and other states. Besides the five-hour long cultural performance, there were cultural demonstration, sports and games, children’s activities, health demonstration, and of course, authentic Chinese food. This year, the format will be similar but the scale will be larger and of higher quality. We anticipate an even larger audience for the 2010 Chinese Festival.

This year’s festival is from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Some sports events begin from 9:30 AM, and the festival opens to public at 11:00 AM. There would be two performance sessions, one from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM and the second one from 4:00 to 6:30 PM.

For the first time, the Chinese Festival will host a Photo Contest, organized by the Chinese Culture Link Visual Arts Studio (CCL, VAS). Detail information regarding the contest can be found at the end of this e-mail in Chinese.

In the next several days, I’ll provide you with information on the sporting events at the 2010 Chinese Festival. The competitions/exhibitions include badminton, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, chess, Chinese chess, Go, and Mahjong.

Please visit http://www.columbus-occs.org/index.html or http://www.ohiochinese.org/ for the most up to date information on the 2010 Chinese Festival.

Hope to see you at the Festival!
